Il suo aspetto attuale prende forma per volere del <strong>duca Francesco I d\u2019Este<\/strong>, che nel 1634 incaric\u00f2 l\u2019architetto Bartolomeo Avanzini di trasformare l\u2019antico castello di famiglia in una moderna dimora extraurbana per la corte.
